Cracking the Case

In the Billie-Jo Jenkins case there was four pieces of evidence that was found at the scene and these pieces of evidence was a tent spike, jacket, pants and a shoe and three of these pieces of evidence belonged to Sion Jenkins. This was the main reason why Sion got convicted was because there was blood spots of Billie-Jo and his jacket, shoe and pants. The blood found on his clothes where microscopic and with there being that many blood spots this led the jury to think that Sion Jenkins had done the bludgeoning, there was also a scientist that was used within one of Sion Jenkins trials who had been looking into what happens when the bludgeoning of a skull happens. This scientist went by the name of Adrian Wain and this scientist rein-acted the bludgeoning of a skull in front of the jury, Wain did this by using a pigs head and used the blood splatter from the pigs head against Sion Jenkins as evidence; linking the blood spray from the impact to the blood spots on Sion Jenkins clothes. (There is more information in the tab 'The Collection of Evidence and the Issues of the Case'). There was also a car journey that Sion Jenkins took when he went to the Do It Yourself (D.I.Y) store, Sion Jenkins took a route of where he drove around of his house and completed a full circle of where he was before carrying on to the D.I.Y store, Sion Jenkins was confronted about this on the interview after he got acquitted in 2006. Sion's response was that to this question was that it was too dangerous to carry out a three point turn, so it was easier for him to go round the block before carrying on to the D.I.Y store; the court hearing about this route came to the conclusion that by the time Sion Jenkins took this route. It gave him enough time to murder Billie-Jo Jenkins and then carry on to the D.I.Y store.(There is more information on the 'Investigation Leads tab). There was also another piece of evidence used against Sion Jenkins, and this was his description on how Billie's blood got on his shirt (which is spoken about in the tab 'Process of Elimination') was that he picked Billie-Jo up when she was covered in blood; then later said that Billie-Jo released a bubble of blood that splattered on him.

When it came to the jury's conclusion the reasons behind Sion Jenkins being convicted was due to the car journey he took, which the court came to the conclusion that it gave him enough time to carry out the murder. The blood spots on Sion's clothes that where from Billie-Jo and the scientist that came in to prove what happens when a bludgeoning is carried out and finally, the way that Sion Jenkins explained how the blood got in his shirt; because Sion had two explanations the court wouldn't have been able to prove if he was telling the truth. The two pieces of evidence at the time that where justified was the blood spots and the scientist Wain and his demonstration of the bludgeoning, the route Jenkins took wasn't as strong as the the blood spots or Wains demonstration because there was no evidence on him exiting the car just him driving round and then off to the D.I.Y store which also added to the conviction.
