Identifying patterns and links.

Identifying patterns and links is something that is done by looking at reports that come in the morning, and officers look at these reports to try and identify any intelligence that may lead or give information on a different case or give information on a case that has been closed for years but becomes re-opened because of the information that has been sustained from these reports. When the police look into these reports, they are also looking for threats o the city or government or a potential emerging crime in a community. This can benefit the case because if there has been a group of crimes in a certain area then they can link the cases together and find out if there is a pattern, for example the criminal may link there crimes to certain families or buildings which means the officers maybe able to get ahead of the criminal and stop them before anymore crimes happen; burglary'a are usually in a certain area and happen in multiple days.

This part isn't relevant to my case as there was no evidence found in the reports that lead to any potential leads in this murder case.
