The investigation plan is all about finding the best way to use the evidence that has been found to find more potential leads, the more organised and planning that gets put into the investigation plan the easier it will go. The senior officer will come up with the best plan to take for the investigation which will go. Without the investigation plan being involved then the collection of evidence and the best way of using the evidence to determine more suspects may not be correct, this could lead to the wrong person being determined as a suspect; which would cause a potential wrong person to be convicted.
