Investigating leads.

Investigating leads is carried out by the police by gathering facts and information about the crime that has been committed, putting all the information together to try and decipher the case and find the suspect. The way that the police investigate the leads that they have can be by sending the evidence that they have found, to a specialist team like forensics. This is where the forensics team will look into the evidence in more depth to find evidence like finger prints, hair, bodily fluids or dried up blood. If the forensics find any evidence like those named above, then they can run a test on them and hopefully find the suspect that either committed or was at the crime scene.

In the Billie-Jo Jenkins case Sion Jenkins was convicted for murder due to his 'cover up story of going to the shop with his other two daughters', the dodgy route he took when going shopping by doing a circular route and going back towards the house and then back towards the DIY shop. The other evidence that was used against Sion was the blood particles on his shirt.

From watching the interview that Sion Jenkins once he got acquitted in 2006, the reason why he took that route to the DIY shop was because it was too dangerous to do a three point turn and that he had to go that way, this is where in court they said it was the right amount of time for him to go and commit that murder. The blood particles on his shirt that had the DNA of Billie-Jo was apparently due to a blood bubble that popped from Billie-Jo's nose when he was holding her after she had been attacked.
