The incident room is a place where the police set up so that they can coordinate with each other and the outside public, this is connected to crime that has been committed in the area. The main point of this room is so that they can carry out the investigation and find out information, as well as start to pull the investigation together and find suspects to either make arrests or question. Without the incident room and the specially trained staff that are placed in this role for a serious criminal case, it will be substantially hard for the officers to find more evidence and link that evidence to a different or same suspect; this may cause the police to be unable to convict anyone which would mean that the case will be unsolved.
In the Billie-Jo Jenkins case this would of been set up so that the police could start looking into the investigation, finding any leads and start to dissect the case to try and find the murderer and any possible leads, due to witnesses and information that has been brought in. With the incident room being local to Hastings, Essex the public will be able to just walk in and pass on information they have got.
